Wildlife Art by Millie Carrée

"The Devil's Tower", an oil on canvas by artist Millie Carree   "The Devil's Tower"  (NEW)

In far Northeastern Wyoming state, the "mountain" in this painting rises above the wooded plains. This monument was the first site in the USA declared a National Monument. Click on the picture at left and it will take you to a page that will explain the painting and its contents. The buffalo have slept in the snow, walked through drifts, and in general been coated with snow. But they are the hardiest of plains animals. They no longer roam this part of Wyoming, but a hundred years ago they did by the thousands. I hope you enjoy this true to life glimpse of the past and present.  Millie Carrée

The Artist
Artist Millie Carree in 2007 Married with 3 children plus grandchildren and great grandchildren, my life has always been busy. With children grown and retirement near, I set about painting in earnest - with a present of a small oil painting kit from my hubby Gilbert. That was the beginning of a dream that had been in the background all my life, but had never seemed possible. In 1999 I put my paintings on the Internet and have shared them with you all every since. What a grand response I've had from people all over the world! I thank you all for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my newly designed web site and new paintings. Any questions at all, E-mail me.  Millie

Artist's  Statement

The world of animals has been a source of humor, wonder and happiness all my life. Raised on an isolated ranch in Northeastern Wyoming state, I saw more animals in my young life than I ever saw humans - they were my source of entertainment and solace. In later years as a self taught artist, I began with landscapes and quickly knew they were empty to me without the antics of wildlife in them.
The world of animals, particularly wildlife, take us to the primitive and away from the hectic world we live in. All the beasts of the world keep us in touch with wonders we can only dream of; a world of serenity or savagery, but always constant - even in a crowded inner city. I enjoy very much bringing the wildlife and wilderness to you in my artwork.
Your artist friend, Millie Carrée.
