Grand Union Canal England I travel overseas this painting, near a town called Bugbrooke in Northamptonshire. The bridge you see is called simply, Bridge # 35. Painted from a photograph by Australian Ken Gemell, I added the swans to his picture. Swans are indeed seen often on the canal which runs for miles and has many "arms". Married with 3 children plus grandchildren and great grandchildren, my life has always been busy. With children grown and retirement near, I set about painting in earnest - with a present of a small oil painting kit from my hubby Gilbert. That was the beginning of a dream that had been in the background all my life, but had never seemed possible. In 1999 I put my paintings on the Internet and have shared them with you all every since. Artist's Statement

The world of animals has been a source of humor, wonder and happiness
all my life. Raised on an isolated ranch in Northeastern Wyoming state,
I saw more animals in my young life than I ever saw humans - they were
my source of entertainment and solace. In later years as a self taught
artist, I began with landscapes and quickly knew they were empty to me
without the antics of wildlife in them. The world of animals, particularly wildlife, take us to the primitive and away from the hectic world we live in. All the beasts of the world keep us in touch with wonders we can only dream of; a world of serenity or savagery, but always constant - even in a crowded inner city.
